putin huilo

При цьому, на вікіпедії, “путін Хуйло“, описаний на одинадцятьох мовах. Putin khuilo, або Putin is a dickhead, за описом з англійської вікіпедії:

“Putin huylo!” (Ukrainian: Путiн хуйло, Russian: Путин хуйло, IPA: [‘putʲɪn xʊj’lo], English meaning: Putin is a fucker or Putin is a dickhead) is a Ukrainian soccer fans chant, that became popular among the wider society during the events of the 2014 Russian military intervention in Ukraine. Originally chanted only by FC Metalist Kharkiv fans, it grew into a nation-wide hit in Ukraine and received broad international coverage.

The mat (Russian vulgarity) хуйло́ is variously transliterated as huilo, khuylo, huylo, or xujlo. Its core is хуй (hui), literally “dick” in Ukrainian. In combination with “-lo” it may be translated as a “dickhead” or, more emphatically “fucker” or “asshole.”

Double entendre

The rallying cry of “Putin khuylo” received international attention when the Ukrainian band Teleri released a song titled “Putin Hello!” The song uses a double entendre substituting the objectionable word “khuylo” with the English word “Hello!” The band members claim that it’s all a big misunderstanding, that people are actually chanting the words from their song. The band members insist that the only people who find the chant objectionable are Russian people who don’t understand English.

Predecessor chant

Although much more popular in its present version, the chant is actually a replay of a “Surkis Khuilo” chant that was popular among the ultras of FC Metalist Kharkiv some time in 2010 when the feud between two Ukrainian oligarchs, Oleksandr Yaroslavsky, at the time the owner of “Metalist”, and Hryhoriy Surkis, who at the time was the president of Football Federation of Ukraine, reached its peak. The Kharkiv fans, who sided with their club president, chanted “Surkis Khuilo!” to express their dislike of the Football Federation president in vulgar and profane form.

However, while the original chant had a very limited use and following, the current song, partly inspired by it, became a nation-wide hit in Ukraine.

In mainstream rock music

The song was replayed or adapted by several Ukrainian mainstream rock music bands. The rock band Druha Rika has performed the song at their concert on June 13, 2014. The Hromadske TV aired the live perfomance of the song by Lemonchiki Project on May 29, 2014. Yet another rock adaptation was made by AstrogentA.

Performance by notable Ukrainian politicians

Among Ukrainian notable politicians caught on camera performing the song are a member of the Ukrainian parliament Oleh Lyashko in May 2014 and it was mentioned by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Deshchytsia, who said it at the Russian Embassy in Kiev in a conversation with protesters on the evening of 14 June 2014. His utterance went: “He (Putin) is a khuylo, but – disperse, please!”

The song has been sung outside of Ukraine including in Mexico, Japan, U.S., Canada, Western Europe and so on.

International reception

The song caused widespread discontent among ordinary Russians, the diplomatic mission of Russia in Ukraine, and the Russian leadership. However, Geoffrey Pyatt, the US ambassador to Ukraine, wrote on Twitter that the minister had been “seeking to defuse a dangerous situation”, calling Deshchytsia “a skilled diplomat and credit to Ukraine.”

The song received attention from influential international press and has been covered by The Guardian, The Washington Post, Süddeutsche Zeitung,[dubious – discuss] Le Monde, Gazeta Wyborcza, Lidové noviny, and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

The Ukrainian television channel TVi also covered the Wikipedia coverage of the song in 10 languages (at the time of publication).
